Use featured audio for podcast episodes, music, samples, or any post that has a sound file. Once a post type is enabled, a Featured Audio box appears in the editor sidebar. The player then shows wherever your theme displays the featured image.
Add a self-hosted audio file
- Open a post or page and find the Featured Audio box in the sidebar.
- Under Please select a audio source, choose Self.
- Click Upload Audio and pick an audio file from the Media Library, or upload a new one.
- Save or update the post.
Link to an audio file hosted elsewhere
- In the Featured Audio box, choose Embed.
- Paste the full link to the audio file, for example
https://example.com/files/episode-12.mp3. Links with query strings, such as signed download links, work too. - Save or update the post.
The link must point straight to an audio file such as .mp3 or .wav. Pages from streaming services like Spotify or SoundCloud will not play.
Add a cover image
- In the Featured Audio box, under Cover Image, click Set Cover Image.
- Pick an image and click Use this image.
- Save or update the post.
The cover shows in the player. Without one, the player uses a default cover. Click Remove Cover to remove it.
Remove audio
For a self-hosted file, click Remove Audio. For a link, clear the URL field. Then save the post.
Where the audio shows
The player replaces the featured image in your theme and shows the post title and the author’s name. Two settings under JetixWP → Featured Audio → Global control blog pages. Both are on by default.
- Show audio at Blog, Category and Tag archives
- Show audio at Blog Single Post
For player options, see Audio player and controls. If the player does not show, or looks off, check Supported themes.
